Only one day on Terschelling? No worries – even in a single day you can experience the true island feeling. From charming villages to wide beaches, nature and stunning views, a day trip to Terschelling is surprisingly complete.
You arrive by ferry in West-Terschelling, the lively heart of the island. Stroll through the village centre with its shops and restaurants, enjoy a coffee with cranberry cake and, of course, take a photo at the Brandaris, the iconic lighthouse of Terschelling.
Explore West-Terschelling by foot, climb the Seinpaalduin or Kaapsduin for panoramic views over the village, the Wadden Sea and the North Sea. With clear weather, you can even see Vlieland.
The best way to explore the island is by bike. Rent a regular or electric bike near the harbour and cycle through dunes, forests and along the dike. Visit the wide beaches, enjoy lunch at a beach pavilion or spot birds in the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea.
For a cosy break, head to Midsland, known for its shops, galleries and terraces. Prefer something else? Join a seal-watching tour, visit a museum or take a walk through nature reserve De Noordsvaarder.
One day may be short – but it’s enough to fall in love with Terschelling.
