The Wadden Sea region is one of the last untouched places in the Netherlands where you can still enjoy absolute darkness, far from artificial light sources. On clear nights, you can even see the breathtaking Milky Way. The Boschplaat on Terschelling is even officially recognized as a Dark Sky Park. Enjoy the beautiful transition from twilight to starry splendor as you walk. Along the way, listen to true stories about the Living Dunes of Oosterend, told by Marloes Fopma of Eilandmeisje, who shares her love for Terschelling as a storyteller with her company. These stories give you a deeper context to the landscape, so that the dunes become more than just sand and beachgrass! Be enchanted by this unique experience full of island stories and make your walk rich with stories. In the darkness, something happens to you; become part of the story yourself, and be touched. Expecting cloudy skies? Don't panic. Seeing the stars is the added bonus of this walk. The stories told offer a rich experience in themselves. Can also be booked exclusively for 2 people, including Marloes's island books. Groups of 8 or more per day are welcome, by arrangement. Difficulty ** For all ages, from 8 years old, provided you are in good physical condition. This walk involves walking through the dunes, so through the sand, both up and down. This twilight walk is suitable for (young) adults and children aged 8 and over. Duration: approximately 2 hours. Distance: approximately 2.5 km, up and down through the dunes. A moderate level of fitness is required, and you should be able to walk comfortably! Participation is at your own risk. Children's version available for ages 4 and up during holidays; see the 1.5-hour Joon children's version. The starting point is the BICYCLE STALL of the Heartbreak Hotel beach pavilion, Oosterend beach, near the "happily ever after starts here" sign. If you're coming by public bus, get off in the village of Oosterend. From there, it's a short half-hour walk along Badweg. Bikes are the most convenient way to get there. The starting point is the parking lot of beach pavilion Heartbreak Hotel, beach Oosterend at the happily ever after starts here sign. If you come by public bus, get off in the village of Oosterend. Then it is a fifteen minute walk along the Badweg. Come by bike, that is the most convenient.
Dogs are not allowed. You do not need to arrive earlier than the indicated start time. The language spoken is Dutch. For English-speaking or German-speaking groups, English or German can be spoken upon request.
