Tinkering and feasting. And yet learn something! How do bees make beeswax? A honeybee is like a small chemical factory. You put honey in and wax plates come out through the four pairs of wax glands that you find at the bottom of the abdomen. To be able to make 1 kilo of beeswax, the bees must eat 8 kilos of honey. From the wax plates the bees build their nesting space, full of cells in which the queen lays her eggs and where the workers store the honey supply. They use their building materials very efficiently. The children's party consists of making an insect hotel, swinging and tasting honey, pouring a wax candle and / or making a honey lolly.

Actually, the apiary is a craft place for processing bee products. This can be all kinds of varieties of honey, such as heather honey, linden blossom honey, willow honey, sea lavender honey, or as a common denominator: boschplaat honey. But care products such as soap or skin creams with propolis, beeswax and royal jelly are also processed here. With the motto “Delicacy at every tide” there is something for everyone to enjoy in the Bijenpark. Our sea lavender honey was chosen as the tastiest European honey in a test in the US last year. We are quite proud of that!
