When we go to sleep, nocturnal animals go in search of food or meet up to mate. These animals are rarely seen during the day, and that is what you will be looking for during this special excursion. Thanks to the long twilight evenings, this is perhaps the most beautiful time of the year to observe these special nocturnal animals. From the parking lot at the Bessenschuur, you walk peacefully into the forest and experience the transition from day to night. Along the way, you listen to the sounds of the forest and dunes and look for animals that become active at dusk. Who knows, you might spot a roe deer or a hedgehog, foraging among the leaves in search of food. In a clearing in the dunes, along the edge of the forest, you wait in silence for bird species such as the woodcock and nightjar, which sometimes let out their mysterious courtship calls during this period.
