"Toer" is what the people of Terschelling call their lighthouse, and it has been a trusted beacon for maritime vessels for centuries. The burning fire in the top of the Brandaris projecting light, is also called "fjoer"... "Fjoertoer" is a walk that takes you past beacons of fire, on your way to Brandaris.
Fjoertoer takes you along the impressive nature of the island, through the polder, forests, dunes and of course across the beach. Local artists create surprising and distinctive fire and light effects which point nocturnal hikers in the right direction. Of course campfires are also part of the experience.
