Concert Chisa Kitagawa

Judging from the music competitions she has won to her credit, Japanese violinist Chisa Kitagawa is among the absolute best of the youngest generation. With Chausson's penetrating Poème, Grieg's Third Violin Sonata, Beethoven's Romance No. 2 and Respighi's rarely played Sonata, Kitagawa opts for a series of works as compelling as they are demanding. The Japanese violinist, who among other things won the prestigious Beethoven International Violin Competition, proves in the Meslânzer Church in Midsland on Terschelling that not only the level of the current generation of young musicians is unprecedentedly high, but also that she possesses daring and a very mature imagination.

Ottorino Respighi
Italian composer Ottorino Respighi is best known for such orchestral works as Fontane di Roma and Pini di Roma. As a result, his chamber music receives little attention. Yet Respighi was also an equally amazing and colorful composer on a smaller scale. For example, he wrote eight string quartets, a piano sonata and two sonatas for violin and piano. His Sonata in b is an atmospheric work that is not inferior to his symphonic poems and excels in melodic richness. Chisa Kitagawa now impressively champions this work.
