The Van Hunenplak is a dune lake with a history. Special plant species were in danger of being lost when the Doodeman coffins were cleaned up in the 1950s. Former forester Van Hunen wanted to preserve these species for the island and had a low dune valley cleaned and excavated to create a new dune lake. This is where he brought the rarities. For example, you can find the Zonnedauw here. The lake is located in the forest on the cycle path in the extension of the Sportlaan (swimming pool) towards the Berry Barn.
