Hidden between the pine trees and only accessible via a signpost along the cycle path, lies the ‘Snijderspad’ lookout point. After climbing the stairs, you will be rewarded with a surprising view over the forests of West-Terschelling. This lookout point, constructed by Staatsbosbeheer, offers a view of the Groenplak, a historic location where a radar post of the Tigerstelling was located during the Second World War. Bunkers, barracks and a radar installation were located here – a lighter type of Wassermann than on the Seinpaalduin. The lookout point is named after Bert Snijders, former district head of Staatsbosbeheer.
