The mill in Formerum is the only one on Terschelling and dates from the year 1836. The mill has been in Formerum since 1876. Terschelling has had several mills, with the first in 1612. Due to fire and the approach of the water, these mills did not make it to their original locations. After the disappearance of grain cultivation on Terschelling, after the Second World War, there was no longer any trade for the mill. Fortunately, a private individual bought the mill before it fell into disrepair and after a thorough restoration in 1968, a coffee bar was made in it.
