De Streken is a tribute to Joop Mulder, the founder of Oerol. He passed away on January 10, 2021. His ideas will continue to exist in future editions of Oerol and in de Streken, a landscape artwork by Marc van Vliet. The organization honors founder Joop Mulder with the realization of this fantastic structure. The work has been constructed on the dike at Oosterend and will remain in place during the summer months until September 16. For Joop, De Streken was an iconic work where you can experience the Wadden landscape in a special way. It was his dream to give it a permanent place on the Wadden coast. This dream has now become reality. This monument can be seen annually at Oosterend from the summer until approximately September 23. It may be due to the weather conditions that it is broken down earlier. It is planned to be rebuilt every summer. By donating you help ensure that De Streken can also be seen and visited on Terschelling in the summer months in the coming years. "If your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough" - Joop Mulder.
Important: in 2023, the Streken will be on display until mid-September.
