In the expansive Oosterend, where you can hear the birds and the Wadden Sea is never far away, lies the holiday home Vergeet mij niet. With an unobstructed view over the polder, you can watch the first light sweep across the land in the morning—a place where the day truly begins peacefully. After a walk along the beach, through the dunes, or across the mudflats, you return to a cozy and comfortable house with a sunny garden. The property has recently been refreshed with a completely new kitchen, flooring, and a fresh coat of paint. The warm, authentic appearance has been preserved; here, you stay in a house with island character combined with modern convenience. The cozy living-dining room features underfloor heating and a charming gas fireplace. There is a 2-seater sofa, a dining area for four, a smart TV (with access to your own streaming services), and a Sonos speaker for music or podcasts. The open kitchen has been completely renovated and is fully equipped with a 4-burner induction hob with extractor hood, refrigerator with freezer compartment, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, filter coffee maker, and kettle. The bedroom is located on the ground floor and features two comfortable box-spring beds (90 x 200 cm), bedside tables with reading lamps, and a second TV. The bathroom adjoins the bedroom and includes a shower and toilet. The cottage is suitable for 1 to a maximum of 4 people. On the mezzanine, accessible via a miller's staircase, there are two beds of the same quality as downstairs. Due to its low, open character, this space is particularly suitable for older children or teenagers. The layout is most comfortable for couples, solo travelers, or families with older children; with more than two adults, it is a bit cramped. Outside, you can enjoy the sunny garden with an unobstructed view of the polder, a lounge sofa and chairs, a parasol, and a picnic table—a lovely spot to start the day with the rising sun or end it amidst the greenery and birds. There is parking for one car directly to the left of the main road; you reach the front door of Vergeet mij niet via a paved path.

Warm and cozy semi-detached holiday homes with a sunny garden, situated on the edge of the Boschplaat nature reserve: a place where mudflats, dunes, and starry sky converge. Marvel at the abundance of birds, whether you encounter them on the Boschplaat or simply in the garden. Get a breath of fresh air during a walk to the Drenkelingenhuisje (Drowning House) or explore the mudflats at low tide. Prefer to stay home? Then enjoy all the peace, space, and comfort of this unique location in the cottage or garden.
Our house is located on the edge of the Boschplaat nature reserve, in the tranquil village of Oosterend: a place for those who love peace, space, and nature. From the street, you can walk straight into the dunes or to the dike to explore the mudflats. On Boschplaat, you'll encounter Hereford cattle and countless birds, and in the evening, you can enjoy a sparkling starry sky in the quietest spot in the Netherlands. The expansive North Sea beach and iconic spots like the Heartbreak Hotel and the Drenkelingenhuisje (Drowning House) are also within easy reach.

Capacity & Sleeping Arrangements The cottage is suitable for 1 to a maximum of 4 people. The extra sleeping spaces are located on the mezzanine, accessible via a miller's staircase. Due to its low, open character, this is a pleasant spot for older children or teenagers. The sofa bed in the living room can also be used as a sleeping place. We therefore particularly recommend this setup for couples, solo travelers, or families with older children. Linens Bed linen and towels are not provided. Please bring your own bed linen, towels, tea towels, and a bath mat. The beds are 90 × 200 cm and equipped with a single duvet and pillow. Prefer to rent? This is possible via Hearlik Sliepe or Wassalon van ’t Leven in Midsland. Cleaning Please leave the cleaning fee at the accommodation upon departure. Dog A maximum of one dog is welcome at Vergeet mij niet. Food and water bowls are ready for you. Please leave the dog surcharge at the accommodation upon departure. To ensure a pleasant stay for all guests, we ask the following: – Do not allow the dog on the furniture. – Do not leave him alone in the house. – Walk him outside in the garden.

We are the Klinkenberg family: Michiel, Jennifer, our son, and a toy poodle. Together we run Wad 'n Stek and have been the proud owners of the holiday homes Gele Lis and Vergeet me niet in Oosterend since September 2025. Our favorite activity is walking in nature. As a child, Jennifer would ride her bike to the Boschplaat and later play hide-and-seek in the Hoornse Bos. In 2015, she returned, this time with Michiel and our toddler. Since then, we return to Terschelling every year, preferably to Oosterend – often even to the same cottages we now proudly rent out. We continue to explore and walk to the very tip of the island. For us, Terschelling is a place of peace, wonder, and connection. As soon as we step onto the boat, we take a deep breath, relax, and feel at home. We want our guests to feel that way too: that upon arrival, you can immediately let go and feel welcome.
Our absolute tips for a stay on our favorite island: Amaze the countless birds on the Boschplaat – or simply in the garden. Get a breath of fresh air during a walk to the Drenkelingenhuisje (Drowning House), or continue on to the easternmost point. There you'll see the shrimp fishermen at work, with the Ameland lighthouse in the distance. Explore the mudflats at low tide: cross the road, take the path to the dike, and descend the steps. Or wander through the Hoornse Bos (Hoorn Woods), where our family loves to walk and play hide-and-seek. For those who enjoy longer hikes, a walk along the Groene Strand to the Noordsvaarder is highly recommended. Climb the highest dune and take a shortcut back to the Brandaris – an experience you won't soon forget. And the best part: you don't always have to be out and about. In the cottage or the sunny garden, you can also enjoy the peace and quiet, space, comfort, and nature all around you.
