In the expansive Oosterend on Terschelling, where you can hear the birds and the Wadden Sea is never far away, lies the holiday home Vergeet mij niet. With an unobstructed view over the polder, you see the first light sweeping across the land in the morning; the day truly begins peacefully here. After a walk along the beach, through the dunes, or across the mudflats, you return to a cozy, comfortable house with a sunny garden. The cottage has recently been refreshed with a new kitchen, flooring, and a fresh coat of paint, while retaining its warm, authentic appearance: island character with modern convenience. In the cozy living-dining room, underfloor heating and a gas fireplace quickly create a comfortable atmosphere; there is a dining area for four, music via the Sonos speaker, and a smart TV with Ziggo, including all ESPN channels, Ziggo Sport, and German and English channels; you can also watch all your favorite streaming services via your own accounts. The open kitchen is fully equipped, so cooking for the entire party is effortless. On the ground floor, you sleep in the bedroom with two lovely box-spring beds, with the bathroom right next to it. On the mezzanine, accessible via a miller's staircase, there are two more beds of the same quality; due to its low, open character, this is the spot for older children or teenagers. The layout is most comfortable for couples, solo travelers, or a group with an older child; with more than two adults, it becomes cramped. Outside, you have the sunny garden with an unobstructed view over the polder: lounge sofa and chairs, parasol, and picnic table—a wonderful place to start the day with the rising sun or to end it amidst the greenery and birds. The young olive willows surrounding the garden grow denser with each season, making the seating area increasingly sheltered. There is parking for one car or bicycles directly to the left of the main road; you reach the front door via a paved path.

Wad 'n Stek consists of two warm, cozy semi-detached holiday cottages side by side, each with a sunny garden, on the edge of the Boschplaat nature reserve: the place where mudflats, dunes, and starry sky meet. Gele Lis has two full-sized bedrooms and is also suitable for families with young children; Vergeet mij niet is cozy and ideal for couples, solo travelers, or a group with an older child. And if you prefer to stay at home, you can enjoy the space and nature around you in peace and quiet in the cottage or the garden.
Our two cottages are situated on the edge of the Boschplaat nature reserve, in the quiet village of Oosterend on the east side of Terschelling: a place for lovers of peace, space, and nature. From the street, you can walk straight into the dunes or to the dike to explore the Wadden Sea. On the Boschplaat, you will encounter Hereford cattle and countless birds, and in the evening, a starry sky sparkles above the quietest spot in the Netherlands like nowhere else. The vast North Sea beach and iconic spots such as Heartbreak Hotel and the Drenkelingenhuisje are also within easy reach.

Capacity and sleeping arrangements. Forget Me Not is suitable for 1 to a maximum of 4 people. Two sleeping places are located on the mezzanine, accessible via a steep miller's staircase. Due to the low, open character of the mezzanine, we recommend this cottage for guests aged 4 and up, and it is most comfortable for couples, solo travelers, or a group with an older child. Are you traveling with younger children? Then take a look at our cottage Gele Lis, right next door: there you sleep upstairs in a lockable bedroom, and a cot, high chair, and baby bath are already set up. Linen. Bedding and towels are not provided. Please bring your own bed linen, towels, tea towels, and a bath mat, or rent them via Hearlik Sliepe or Wassalon Van ’t Leven in Midsland; if you rent linen, the linen package will be ready for you in the cottage upon arrival. The beds are 90 x 200 cm, with single duvets and pillows. Cleaning. Please leave the amount for the final cleaning at the accommodation upon departure. Dog. One dog is welcome at Vergeet mij niet; food and water bowls are provided. Please leave the dog fee at the accommodation upon departure. Bring your own basket or blanket, do not allow the dog on the furniture, do not leave him alone in the house, and take him out for a walk in the garden.

We are the Klinkenberg family: Michiel, Jennifer, our son, and our toy poodle. Together, we run Wad ’n Stek and have been the proud owners of the holiday homes Gele Lis and Vergeet me niet in Oosterend since September 2025. Our favorite pastime is walking in nature. Jennifer used to ride on the back of a bike towards the Boschplaat as a child and later played hide-and-seek in the Hoornse Bos. In 2015, she returned, this time together with Michiel and our toddler. Since then, we have returned to Terschelling every year, preferably to Oosterend, often even to the same cottages that we now proudly rent out. We continue to explore and walk to the very tip of the island. For us, Terschelling is a place of peace, wonder, and connection. As soon as we step onto the boat, we take a deep breath, relax, and feel at home. We wish that same feeling for our guests: that upon arrival, you immediately let go and feel welcome.
Our absolute tips for a stay on our favorite island: Marvel at the countless birds on the Boschplaat, or simply in the garden. Get a breath of fresh air with a walk to the Drenkelingenhuisje, or walk on to the easternmost point: there you can see the shrimp fishermen at work, with the Ameland lighthouse in the distance. Discover the Wadden Sea at low tide: cross the road, take the path to the dike, and go down the steps. Or wander through the Hoornse Bos, where we as a family love to walk and play hide-and-seek. If you enjoy longer hikes, walk via the Groene Strand to the Noordsvaarder, climb to the highest dune, and walk back through the countryside towards the Brandaris: an experience you won't soon forget. And the best part is: you don't always have to go out. Even in the cottage or the sunny garden, you can enjoy the space, comfort, and nature around you in complete peace and quiet.
