Discover the hidden nightlife of Terschelling. As soon as dusk falls, the forest transforms into a mysterious world full of sounds. The night is an important period for many animals. When we go to sleep, nocturnal animals go in search of food or meet up to mate. These animals are rarely seen during the day, and that is what you will be looking for during this special excursion. From the parking lot at the Bessenschuur, you will walk leisurely into the forest and experience the transition from day to night. Along the way, you will listen to the sounds of the forest and dunes and look for animals that become active at dusk. Who knows, you might spot a roe deer or a hedgehog, foraging among the leaves in search of food. In a clearing in the dunes, along the edge of the forest, you will wait in silence for bird species such as the woodcock and nightjar, which sometimes let out their mysterious courtship calls during this period. With a little luck, they might also show themselves. However, nature remains unpredictable; therefore, sightings cannot be guaranteed. The guide will bring a thermal imager. Binoculars can also be useful, even at dusk. Dogs are not allowed. Children may participate after consultation.
