Sterrentocht Natuurlijk Oosterend
The traditional Lichtjestocht in Oosterend has been given a new (winter) look. This beautiful walk for young and old is now dominated by the Dark Sky park Terschelling. Darkness, stargazing and awareness of what light pollution does to humans and animals. Experience the most beautiful night sky in Europe. Along the way you go in small groups of stars with explanation of the forester and a planisphere, there is music and chocolate milk.
Sunday 27 December, starting at 5 p.m. Participation is free but a ticket is required. These are available in advance at Visiting farm De Zeekraal, De Heeren van der Schelling and Tjermelân. Start and end at the Tjermelân holiday park.

Oosterend is the village farthest east on Terschelling, and closest to nature reserve De Boschplaat. This European nature reserve is a true feast for the senses, drawing your eyes to the ever-changing shapes of the dunes and channels. On top you can experience real, dense darkness: in this Dark Sky Park guides will be happy to show you the wealth of this unique nature area.
To the north, at the end of the 'Oosterender badweg' you find one of the seven beach pavilions. From there you can also walk tho the iconic 'Drenkelingenhuisje', where once shipwreckers found shelter.
